Throwing stars
A throwing star is a traditional Japanese throwing weapon used in the Japanese martial art known as shurikenjutsu. A martial art practiced by ninjas and an integral part of their training. Also called a ninja shuriken, this ranged weapon is not used for close combat, but rather to distract or target a specific individual. In Japan, dipped in poison, the throwing star can cause more than a simple wound.
Using throwing stars
As it is not a widely used weapon in Europe, using throwing stars requires a certain level of know-how. Indeed, using this weapon requires first and foremost knowing the objectives for which it is used.
The throwing star can be used to divert attention, to injure, or as a simple tool. If the goal is to distract, it is recommended to throw it at the face. The opponent will likely try to avoid it, and this brief window of time allows for a quick attack or escape. As a tool, it can be used to cut ropes or food, or to score wood, and more. That said, even as a tool, its use requires a certain level of expertise.
