Defense sprays

Defense sprays come in 15, 25, 50, or 75 ml aerosols, housed in aluminum bodies 8 to 15 cm tall and weighing 30 to 150 g when full. The keychain format is the most compact; from 50 ml, the aerosol comes with a belt-loop holster or a clip-on holder. A fold-down cap, a rotating ring, or a hinged lid locks the spray head.

Spray patterns and storage

The spray pattern distinguishes the direct stream, concentrated and largely wind-resistant, the cone mist, wider in coverage, as well as foam and gel, which limit dispersion in enclosed spaces. The range stated by manufacturers runs from one to four meters depending on the nozzle and internal pressure. Each canister carries an expiration date: pressure decreases over the years, which is why it is recommended to weigh the aerosol and check the cap once a year. These canisters complement other personal defense equipment.
