Battery Chargers

Battery chargers for lights

A battery charger determines cell lifespan as much as it does recharge quality. A two- or four-bay model treats each slot independently, which allows different capacities and charge states in the same session. The sliding bays must accept common lengths, from a protected 18650 to a 21700, as well as AA, AAA, and 14500 formats often used in backup lighting.

Charge current, chemistries, and safety features

An adjustable current of 0.5 to 2 A allows an old cell to be treated gently or an urgent recharge to be accelerated. Automatic recognition of lithium-ion or NiMH chemistry prevents voltage errors, while the display of voltage, current, and capacity makes wear visible. End-of-charge cutoff, reverse polarity detection, and thermal protection remain essential. The relevant batteries are listed in the lights and portable lighting section.
