LED headlamps

A headlamp frees both hands for climbing, pitching a tent, fixing an engine, or running at night. The first criterion remains the balance between output and runtime: 100 to 250 lumens for general hiking, 400 lumens and above for fast trail running, with regulation that maintains the level instead of declining. Weight on the back of the head matters just as much: under 100 g for prolonged use, a remote battery pack and wide headband beyond that.

Beam, power, and comfort

A mixed beam combines a long-distance spot and a close-range flood; red lighting preserves night vision inside a tent. A motion sensor and stepless dimming avoid the need to remove gloves. On the power side, an integrated 18650 battery recharges via USB-C, while AAA battery models remain resupply-friendly on expeditions.
