Batons

Telescopic batons

A telescopic baton consists of two or three sliding sections made of hardened steel or aluminum. Collapsed, it measures 16 to 27 cm; extended, 40 to 64 cm, with a weight of 250 to 600 g depending on the metal and tube diameter. The handle features a rubber coating, high-density foam, or molded urethane, often ribbed to prevent slipping in a wet hand.

Deployment, carrying, and maintenance

Two deployment principles coexist: friction locking, achieved with an arm swing and closed by pressing the tip against the ground, and mechanical button locking, which allows manual closing. Fixed models in polypropylene or polycarbonate offer a lighter one-piece alternative. Carrying is done in a nylon or leather belt-loop holster, in a vertical or horizontal position. Maintenance consists of cleaning the sections, removing dust and sand from the housing, and then applying a thin film of light oil to the friction surfaces. These folding models complement the personal defense range.
