A fixed blade knife is admired by its users due to its versatile nature. While other types of knives are generally limited in their capabilities, a good Fixed blade knife is capable of performing a multitude of tasks, from wood carving to striking steel on fire, to food processing. Fixed blade knives will always be a better choice, depending on what you think the day has in store for you. You can associate them with tougher outdoor work, such as skinning a deer, digging, splitting and preparing food.
There is no replacement for a good fixed blade knife. When working in the wilderness, a fixed blade knife is often a better choice than a folding knife. They are more robust, stronger and can often be abused to a degree that no pocket knife could ever withstand.
